The Abstract: This critique of the transgender rights movement is through the lens of personal and professional experiences in the fields of social justice activism, academia and politics. This analysis illuminates how capitalism taints the transgender rights movement by prioritizing publicity and profits over people abandoning all integrity. The only woman of color born with gender incongruence delegate at the Democratic National Convention, Sharron Cooks was a highly-visible political force during the campaign. She hopes to inspire other trans people to join the political process.
